A Baldur’s Gate 3 player is on a mission to collect and sell every chest in the game

These Baldur's Gate 3 players are collecting every box they come across.

Standing as yet another testament to how you can do anything and everything in Baldur’s Gate 3, a player and his brother have collected every single chest they’ve come across in the game. It’s an impressive feat that’s both ridiculous and kind of brilliant. It also makes you stand back and say, “Why?” But then again, why not?

This story is brought to us by Stompingchicken (great name) on Reddit. He introduced Baldur’s Gate 3 to his former roommate and was shocked by the results. The former roommate recruited his brother and the two of them have been playing through Baldur’s Gate 3 collecting every single chests they can get their hands on.

Only it’s not just chests. They pick up every single box. Every barrel. Everything and anything that you can put other things into, they collect. To make sure they don’t become encumbered, they send all their barrels, boxes, and chests back to camp until they are ready to sell.

Because that’s the goal. These two goons (their classes weren’t divulged, but they’re probably a Bard and Barbarian considering their whimsically thick ideas of fun) hoard containers just so they can sell them off.

In the Reddit post, an image reveals the two have collected 4,710 containers so far, weighing in at 55,959 pounds, and worth 200,636 gold. Now their little business doesn’t seem so silly, huh? To be honest, I’m mad at myself for not thinking of this great money-making scheme first because as long as they balance Bartering and Trading, they can buy every item from every vendor in Baldur’s Gate 3.

The two brothers call themselves the Crate Merchants and they couldn’t care less about the parasite in their head. Their ultimate goal in Baldur’s Gate 3 is to collect every container and sell it to make a profit. They’ve essentially written their own narrative of being Crate Merchants in the midst of a multidimensional disaster. I love this game.
