There’s a lot to enjoy for Final Fantasy fans during this limited-time crossover event. Several Legends now have Final Fantasy VII-inspired skins and Cloud’s Buster Sword has been added to the game as the first ever Heirloom to be equippable by any character. If you’d rather not spend an exorbitant amount of money on skins and loot boxes, then you can also find the Buster Sword as a weapon during matches. Keep an eye out for Cactuar Ticks to score some unique loot, too!

The Final Fantasy VII Rebirth crossover event also comes with a special event currency called Gil. You can earn Gil by playing the event mode and completing challenges. You can then spend it on free rewards in the event shop, like a Cactuar charm or some loot boxes. The event shop will rotate weekly and feature a selection of Final Fantasy cosmetics.

All of the Final Fantasy goodness — including the Materia Hop-Ups — will only be available in Apex Legends for a limited time. The crossover event kicks off on January 9, 2024, and will run for the rest of the month, concluding on January 30, 2024. Once the event ends, there’ll be just a few short weeks left until the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which hits shelves on February 29, 2024.
