Apex Legends primes its Season 3 launch for October 1

Respawn Entertainment continues to push on with its battle royale shooter, Apex Legends. The second season brought with it modifications to the Kings Canyon map, as well as changes in weaponry. Some of those weapon mods included more stacks of shotgun ammo to carry and energy ammo clips. Now, EA and Respawn Entertainment revealed that Season 3: Meltdown will arrive on Oct. 1, 2019.

Crypto isn’t here for the currency

Reports started coming in the last few days from datamined information that allegedly contained the identity of the new legend, Crypto. This was also confirmed with him showing up in-game in a small room behind glass walls. He can be seen attempting to hack away at a computer before vacating the room and sprinting down the hall. Crypto is now confirmed as the new legend with more details coming forth in a blog post.

From what we know now, it looks like Crypto will have deployable drones that he can drop into the fight. The closest thing to something controllable and deployable at this time is Wattson and her droppable electric fencing and generator.  Crypto’s description reads, “Cool, calm, collected Crypto deploys specialized surveillance drones to stay in the fight and out of the spotlight.”

What else is new in Apex Legends?

Of course, what would a new season be without new duds? The season three battle pass looks to add more than “100 exclusive items.” As we’ve seen done with the previous season, this also includes a mix of legendary and standard skins for both guns and characters. And being that Meltdown is new, this also means that we will see content dropping for the first time. Some of those first-timers include the Charge Rifle, a new weapon dropped onto the battlefield.

Apex Embed Season 3 Charge Rifle

From the descriptions of the new Apex Legends season, it looks like the battlefield will be changing too. The art and a few other pieces to the puzzle point to a lava or fire-filled playground. I mean, the new logo for ranked play boasts a horned beast and is glowing fiery yellow. There’s also a boatload of new info coming for that as well, with still more information to come.

So, yeah, bring on the flames.
