April 2021 PC game releases: Outriders, NieR Replicant, Oddworld: Soulstorm, Portal Reloaded, and more

April 2021 Remastered

More PC games will be arriving this month. April 2021’s PC game releases include Outriders, Oddworld: Soulstorm, NieR Replicant, Portal Reloaded, and more. We’ll also see some older games making their return with a shiny new coat. We’ve got Total War: Rome Remastered, Shadow Man Remastered, and SaGa Frontier Remastered.

April 2021 PC game releases: NieR Replicant, Outriders, Oddworld: Soulstorm, Total War: Rome Remastered, and more

Outriders (People Can Fly): April 1

A devastated world greets you in Outriders, a looter shooter where you’ll face off against terrifying foes. Outriders allows co-op for up to three players in a squad. You’ll then delve further into the game’s features and mechanics such as its four classes, skill trees, and modded equipment.

Oddworld: Soulstorm (Oddworld Inhabitants, Inc.): April 6

Abe returns in this adventure game where you craft, scavenge, and sneak around.

Lost Words: Beyond the Page (Sketchbook Games): April 6

Let your imagination run wild as you use the words on the pages of a diary to explore the unknown.

Cozy Grove (Spry Fox): April 8

You’ll be camping on a haunted island, all while discovering various secrets, crafting useful tools, and helping wayward spirits move on.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV (Nihon Falcom): April 9

The final chapter of the JRPG saga.

SaGa Frontier Remastered (Square Enix): April 15

Relive the journey of eight intertwined characters. The original SaGa Frontier released in 1998. SaGa Frontier Remastered, meanwhile, has some neatly upgraded sprites, full HD graphics, and even a speed-up mode.

Shadow Man Remastered (Nightdive Studios): April 15

Originally released in 1999, Shadow Man tells the tale of a voodoo warrior who aims to protect the world of the living. In it, you faced threats such as dark spirits and serial killers. Fast forward to the present, and Shadow Man Remastered will bring this hidden gem to a new generation, combined with 4K support, HDR, and dynamic shadows.

Stellaris: Nemesis (Paradox Interactive): April 15

Stellaris: Nemesis is an expansion that focuses on espionage. Likewise, it allows you to become either a Galactic Custodian  (leading the galaxy to combat a crisis) or a Menace (becoming the endgame crisis itself).

Portal Reloaded (PORTANIS): April 19

Portal Reloaded is a community-made mod lets you use three different portals. The blue and orange portals should be familiar to long-time players, but the green portal lets you travel through time. Portal Reloaded releases this April 2021, 10 years after Portal 2‘s launch.

Maskmaker (Innerspace VR): April 20

This VR title has you crafting masks while interacting with a zany cast of characters.

Smelter (X Plus): April 22

Smelter is a retro-style action-platformer. You’ll guide your character, Eve, across multiple levels as she searches for Adam.

We Are The Caretakers (Heart Shaped Games): April 22

Advance with your squad, research technologies, and master the game’s 20+ classes. We Are The Caretakers combines grand strategy and turn-based combat mechanics.

Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife (Fast Travel Games): April 22

Wraith: The Oblivion – Afterlife is a VR horror game set in the World of Darkness universe.  Your character has become a Wraith, and it’s up to you to use your newfound supernatural powers to defeat deadly monsters and spirits.

Nier Replicant (Toylogic Inc./Square Enix): April 23

The game Nier was originally released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 back in 2010. There was, however, an alternate version that was released only in Japan (also for the PS3). It was called Nier Replicant and it featured a younger protagonist. Following the stellar success of Nier: Automata, we’ll eventually see a remaster of that alternate version release for PCs this April 2021.

Europa Universalis IV: Leviathan (Paradox Interactive): April 27

The Leviathan expansion for Europa Universalis IV gives players more options for diplomacy and development. You can curry favors, funnel development away from vassals, and step up against the big boys as you attempt to “play tall.”

Total War: Rome Remastered (Creative Assembly): April 29

How far will you go for Rome? Well, the developers seem to be going the distance in Total War: Rome Remastered which released back in 2004. As for Total War: Rome Remastered, it’ll boast support for 4K graphics, ultrawide displays, and HDR. The Alexander and Barbarian Invasion DLCs will also be included, as well as an expanded number of factions (those that were locked and unplayable in the past will become playable). Lastly, the merchant is a new agent who can bolster your faction’s economic power.

R-Type Final 2 (Granzella): April 30

Power-up your ship and blast your foes in this horizontal-scrolling shooter. It’s the first R-Type game in over a decade.

Century: Age of Ashes (Playwing LTD): April 2021 (Early Access)

A free-to-play game where you control dragons and engage other players in aerial combat. The game was originally set to come out in February 2021, but it has been pushed back to April 2021 instead.
