Eliminating Gorm Kjotvesson
You’ve got almost nothing when you reach Vinland, but you’ll soon acquire a few resources to help you out. For now, investigate the port for clues.
You’ll eventually reach the village of Karonhiaken:aite. Here, you’ll speak with the village elder as well as someone named Olav the Unlucky.
You’ll also notice a trader nearby. Now, unlike the vendors in Norway and England, the trader here has no use for your silver. Instead, you may only purchase items using iron ore, leather, and carbon ingots. Of note here is the full Arenhare’kowa armor set.
To be clear, the weapons and armors you obtain in Vinland can only be used in this region since they’re just there to help Eivor survive and win battles. If you visit other places in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, they’re automatically removed from your inventory. They’ll only become active if you decide to revisit Vinland.
Note: The resources you find in Vinland are separate from those obtained in England and Norway. Likewise, if you purchased the Complete Map Pack, points of interest in Vinland still won’t appear.
So, how exactly do you acquire them? Well, you’ll simply have to explore Vinland:
- Iron ores – Nodes can be found all over the region (ping the map or use your raven to spot them).
- Leather – You can find these by hunting wildlife.
- Carbon Ingots – Found inside chests in various camps. The chests might also contain iron ore and leather.
Eivor’s main objective, though, is to assassinate Gorm Kjotvesson. You’ll find him in the camp at the northwestern part of Vinland.
He’s surrounded by dozens of guards and, if you’re lacking gear, it can be tough if you get discovered. Funnily enough, I was quite lucky.
I snuck up on him and pressed “X” to whistle. Gorm walked towards the bushes and I was able to assassinate him cleanly (Eivor’s Hidden Blade is still with her).
Pick up the “crystal eye” and visit the cavern in Gorm’s camp. Eivor will say that she can’t do anything with it.
Once you return to the village, Eivor entrusts the “crystal eye” to the village elder. This is actually an Apple of Eden. Is it the one we’ve seen in Assassin’s Creed 3?

Still, if you wish to go back here, just use the world map. Remember that you’d still have limited resources (only the ones discovered in Vinland) even after the entire arc is finished.
