Baldur’s Gate 3: Where to find the Githyanki Egg

One egg coming right up.

In Baldur’s Gate 3 you’ll eventually come across Lady Esther, who tasks you with stealing a Githyanki Egg. Apart from having several moral complications, the quest doesn’t make it very easy to find straight away either. So if you’re struggling to find the item for the Steal a Githyanki Egg quest, here are the answers you need.

Baldur’s Gate 3: Where to find the Githyanki Egg

The Githyanki Egg is located inside Crèche Y’llek which is itself located beneath Rosymorn Monastery. If you’ve yet to enter this area, progress down the road from where you met Lady Esther until you reach the Monastery’s Waypoint. Then you’ll want to look over the nearby cliff where you’ll find a path leading downwards. It’s here that you’ll find a cave entrance that leads directly to the Crèche.

Once inside Crèche Y’llek, we’ll already be really close to the Githyanki Egg in Baldur’s Gate 3. We’re specifically looking for the Hatchery, which is found on the western side of the Crèche. And from here your approach can differ.

The egg itself is located right at the back of the Hatchery in the center of the sunlight. But within the Hatchery there is also a Caretaker and two guards, while these numbers may not seem great, this fight can be a pain. Varsh Ko’kuu is a pretty strong spellcaster, and the two Githyanki warriors that support him aren’t to be trifled with either. That doesn’t mean fighting them is impossible by any means, just prepare for a tough fight.

The option to sneak past them all is of course one that’s available. A Rogue can make short work of this, and with the help of a few Invisibility scrolls this will be the easiest heist of all time. There are some key traps to look out for though. There are five purple glyphs on the ground, and once you step on them you get sent straight to a small cell located right next to the caretakers. Use the picture above to help you avoid the traps. Then once you’re there you can simply pick up the egg and place it in your inventory.

Convince Varsh Ko’kuu to give you the egg

This is Baldur’s Gate 3 though so of course there’s another way to take the Githyanki Egg. If you approach Varsh Ko’kuu and pass an Insight check, you can convince him to take the egg somewhere safe. This is a DC 14 roll, so it’s not too hard to pass. It’s also interesting to do as Lae’zel since you’ll get some unique dialogue options to choose as a Githyanki. And as a bonus you’ll be able to take the egg without any bloodshed.

Whichever path you end up going down, you’ll finally be in posession of a Githyanki Egg. You can then take it over to Lady Esther for a tidy reward of some gold coin, and some interesting reperucssions further down the line.
