Shining Rock Sofware’s new medieval city builder Banished has wowed Steam shoppers this week proving that PC gamers are itching for a decent city building experience. The steam sales chart was topped by the new game by end of play on Sunday. The top ten for last week were as follows.

  1. Banished
  2. DayZ
  3. Rust
  4. Call of Duty: Ghosts
  5. Arma III
  6. Garry’s Mod
  7. South Park: The Stick of Truth
  8. Space Engineers
  9. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition
  10. Thief

DayZ has been sitting at the top for weeks and this chart will surely bring a smile to the face of Luke Hodorowicz, the one man development team behind the game.

We reviewed Banished earlier in the week and thought it was a solid game but sadly lacked depth. The game has a solid foundation and it should improve one the games’s modding tools are released by Shining Rock and the community starts to flesh it out. Hopefully those tools will be with us soon although there’s no word on when they’ll appear. I think in a few days time players will be looking for more from the game if they’re not already. Still, it’s an impressive achievement by a one man development team.
