Upgrade efficiently.

When it comes to starting your game in Wild Hearts, one of the many systems you can latch onto is the Karakuri upgrade section. But with a section that seems to scroll forever, it’s hard to know where to start. If you’re having trouble with which Karakuri upgrades to grab first, here’s our guide on the best Karakuri starter upgrades in Wild Hearts.

Dragon Karakuri starter upgrades

When it comes to the basic Katakuri starter upgrades to grab, Dragon Katakuri is seemingly the most obvious one. There are a bunch of them, and almost every single node at the start is a different Dragon Katakuri. So spend as you want with this particular area, as most of them are pretty useful.

Here’s small bit of sage advice, though: aim for Dragon Karakuri starter upgrades that will increase quality of life. There’s a lot of Dragon Katakuri, but you can look and see the ones that you think will be useful in the long run. For example, you should aim for the Paddle Scoop and Training Bear pretty early. These are two that you can use to do some fishing or try weapons out against respectfully.

There’s also the inverse to this advice, which is to try and avoid Karakuri upgrades that aren’t going to help. If you don’t feel the need to leave messages for other players, you should avoid the sign.

Healing Water Karakuri upgrades

This one should be pretty self-explanatory, but there starter upgrades increase the amount of Healing Water you can hold in Wild Hearts. These are obviously helpful, as the more Healing Water you have, the less you’ll perish. (Probably.)

Dragon Karakuri upgrades

This may sound similar to the first point, but let’s go over increasing the efficiency of the upgrades you already have. You can aim for upgrades such as the increased durability Karakuri upgrade for your basic cubes. There are also ones for increasing glider speed, and more fish obtained by the Paddle Scoop. Dig around the menu and try to find starter upgrades that improve your most used Karakuri.

There’s also the Flying Vine Impaler Karakuri upgrade, which lets you do damage while shooting a Flying Vine Karakuri at a monster. That isn’t necessarily the best starter upgrade, but it is fun to also do damage to the monster as well as take a zipline down towards it. And that is honestly just a really cool thing to be able to do.
