The 5 best live-service Halloween events

Of course, there are hundreds to choose from. Almost every live-service game has a Halloween event, and you’ll spot the festivities popping up everywhere. However, some go a little further than others to add to the horrors.

#5 Call of Duty: MW2 + Warzone 2 – The Haunting

Activision

Beginning October 19th and running until the 1st of November, The Haunting promises to be a great Halloween live-service event to look out for. Call of Duty is overhauling Vondel with an all-new Halloween theme. Zombies roam the map, and a huge red moon hangs over the area.

Both maps now feature a zombie mode in which you play as either the zombie or the zombie slayer. Survive while you can!

In Modern Warfare 2, you can expect to see new maps, game types, and events to take part in, all with their own spooky theme. Of course, you can expect to see plenty of Halloween-themed goodies in the battle pass.

If you’re a player still woefully invested in this decades-old game, then no doubt you are familiar with the annual Hallows End event. This Halloween-themed event comes to the live-service game every year and has players roaming the streets as trick-or-treaters.

From October 18th until the 1st of November, players can go door to door at the inns and taverns collecting themed loot. Collectibles, pets, and mounts can all be found in this Halloween-themed live-service event.

#3 Fortnitemares Halloween event

Epic

Fortnite likes to put a show on for its dedicated player base, and 2023 is no exception. The much-loved and long-awaited Halloween event is coming again to Fortnite. As usual, Epic has kept their game plans hush-hush, but thanks to some leaks, there are a few things we know about this live-service Halloween event.

It looks like we’re getting the Vampire shotgun back which delivers damage dealt back to you as health. A witch’s broom is a vehicle that blasts you forward, destroying all in its path. Also, we should be seeing spooky cases, skins, and an all-new Halloween-themed boss. The fun begins on October 10th.

Bungie

Speaking to Eva Levante in the tower will open up a quest that, once completed, begins the live-service Halloween event in Destiny 2. The game features all-new themed Lost Sectors to explore as you push back the forces of darkness.

To earn ‘Candy’ during the Halloween event, guardians must wear masks that can be equipped over their current helms. This will allow you to earn the points needed to spend on the Halloween event goodies. Helmets and weapons can be earned as you play through the live-service event.

The spooky event can be enjoyed from October 18th all the way through until November 8th.

#1 Overwatch/Diablo crossover Halloween event

Overwatch Halloween Event
Blizzard

In this, the first-ever Blizzard crossover, we see two new game modes come to life in Overwatch 2: Rise of Darkness. Lilith has come to the world of Overwatch, no longer satisfied with only terrorizing Sanctuary.

In a co-op survival brawl, you will do battle with the hordes of hell, including Azmodan Wrecking Ball, Butcher Roadhog, and of course, Lilith.

All new challenges will be added to the returning Junkenstein’s Revenge and Wrath of the Bride events, in which you can earn all sorts of Halloween-themed cosmetics. As you progress, you can also purchase lots of scary items from the shop with your Halloween Terror credits. Hurry, though; the live-service event only runs from October 10th to November 1st, and you need to spend those credits before November 7th.
