Best longbow build in Modern Warfare 3 (MW3)

Practise makes perfect.

I typically don’t snipe in Call of Duty, mostly because I’m bad at it. But for Modern Warfare 3, I was forced to adopt this weapon class due to the very annoying Armory Unlock System. One challenge required a sniper rifle, so I picked the Longbow.

It’s a surprisingly good weapon, but what made it better is the build I created. Here’s the best build for the Longbow in Modern Warfare 3 (MW3). It may make sniping a lot easier.

Modern Warfare 3 (MW3): Best Longbow build

The Longbow is built for distance. This can be tricky since most maps aren’t that wide open. However, a lot of maps do have little cozy sniper nests. To accommodate the small space, this build isn’t great for close-range combat. So if you want to get more distance, use this guide as a reference point and build upon it.

Longbow close-range attachments

First, let’s go over the attachments you’ll need to make this build work.

  • Muzzle: Pro-99 Long Barrel
  • Underbarrel: XRK Edge BW-4 Handstop
  • Stock: Stockless
  • Rear Grip: Citadel LV Tactical Grip
  • Mag: 10 Rounds

What I like about this build is its mobility. The Pro-99 Long Barrel stock is great for quickly switching to ADS. Then, if you need to move spots, the XRK BW- 4 Handstop comes into play by making you more mobile. Going Stockless is also important. With no stock, the weapon is lighter, which makes running around easier. Plus, you can shoot faster without it as well. To take even more weight off the gun, the Citadel LV Tactical Grip helps a lot. It also increases your ADS speed. Ten Rounds should be enough, this is an area where I would play around with. If you’re not good at sniping like me, you could burn through bullets quickly.

Longbow Gear

  • Secondary: Riveter
  • Vest: Gunner
  • Tactical: Battle Rage
  • Lethal Frag Grenade
  • Field Upgrade: Anti-Armor Rounds
  • Gloves: Commando Gloves
  • Gear: Mag Holster

To continue this trend of mobility with the Longbow, start with the Gunner Vest which gives you a secondary that’s not a pistol. When you’re sniping, it’s good to have a stronger weapon that you can defend yourself with. The Riveter is that weapon, it’s fast and has great accuracy. Battle Rage is important for a few reasons, but the one that sticks out is that it can bring your health stamina back. So if you’re being suppressed, pop that Battle Rage and start countering. Anti Armour Rounds can add that extra damage. You’ll need it on smaller maps. Combining the Commando Gloves and Mag Holster will make reloading a walk in the park. Commando Gloves allow you to reload while spriting and Mag Holster increases the speed of reloading.
