Best Weapons Ranked In Mordhau – Tier List

It's easy; just stab them in the head.

Mordhau is a superb if unforgiving medieval hack and slash by the talented lot at Triternion. Mordhau is finally getting some well-deserved attention thanks to a recent free stint on the Epic Games launcher. However, one thing that quickly becomes apparent is how brutal the game is, particularly for new players. Many beginners are trying to find what the best weapons are in Mordhau or a ranked tier list to use. Unfortunately, it’s a tough question to answer.

I’ll be honest, I love Mordhau and know that it isn’t for everyone. No weapons stand head and shoulders above the rest, although that’s a different story when you’re a newcomer. These are my picks for the best weapons in Mordhau if you’re fresh out of the Tutorial.

Best Weapons Ranked In Mordhau – Tier List

C:  Spear

"Best

When you’re a new player, it’s frustrating being outplayed constantly, and it’s plain demoralizing to sit at the bottom of the scoreboard game after game. You’ll be outplayed less over time, but I can certainly help you score a few kills even if you can’t duel.

The Spear loses against many weapons in 1v1 combat but excels with its tremendous reach (the longest in the game!) and powerful stabs. If you’re playing Invasion or Frontline, follow a teammate into battle and stab their opponents when you see an opening. As long as you aren’t swinging the Spear, you shouldn’t hit your friends, and you’ll quickly net a ton of kills if you’re careful. The Spear won’t teach you how to duel, but it will help with positioning, which is equally important.

B:  Rapier

"Best

If Mordhau’s other weapons feel a little unwieldy and heavy, why not give the Rapier a shot? The Rapier is a one-handed weapon, so it lacks the destructive power of weapons like the War Axe and Great Sword.

To offset the lack of power, the Rapier is fast and capable of rapid hits. The Rapier does a ton of damage if you can land stabs to the face, and you can stay unpredictable with quick combos. As your attacks do less damage, you will need to land more hits with the Rapier to confirm kills, but this can be a worthwhile trade-off.

A:  Great Sword

"Best

Many tout the Great Sword as the best all-rounder in Mordhau. That’s a bold claim, but it’s a fantastic two handed weapon with no glaring weaknesses. It works well in Frontline and Invasion and is absolutely great for dueling.

Once you start to get a feel for duels, Drags with the Great Sword are savage and hard to deal with. You’ll score plenty of kills with practice, and many skills you learn with the weapon will translate nicely to others in Mordhau. You can try the Great Sword as part of the Knight default class.

A+: Evening Star

"Best

Thanks to its explosive damage output, the Evening Star has been a top-tier dueling weapon for a good while. It’s scary to deal with as it usually kills in 2 hits, even against heavily armored foes. The Alt Grip is decent, too, sacrificing range for increased stab damage.

Naturally, the Evening Star is a little slow to offset its crazy damage, so it’s not for everyone. With practice, the Evening Star is a monster, and if you enjoy a more methodical playstyle with a massive payoff, this may be the weapon you stick with for good.

S: War Axe

"Best

Finally, topping off our Best Ranked Weapons in Mordhau Tier List, you can’t go wrong with the War Axe. Arguably, the Battle Axe is objectively better in combat, but the War Axe brings more than just raw killing power to the table. The War Axe is part of the Raider preset class, which is available immediately and capable of some deceptively fast combos. This weapon does it all, and a monster with the Bloodlust perk.

Once you start to understand the objectives, you’ll realize the War Axe has great utility and is amazing vs. structures. If you decide to build your own class with the War Axe, try spicing it up with the Wrecker perk. With that, you’ll improve the destructive aspect of the weapon even further.
