Brink to ‘bridge the gap between single player, co-op and multiplayer’

Richard Ham, Creative Director on Brink, says that the game will ‘bridge the gap between single player, co-op and multiplayer once and for all’ and that the industry too easily forgets ‘players reward bold innovation’.
When asked by IncGamers about whether or not he was nervous about releasing a new IP into a crowded FPS market, Richard Ham responded that ‘once upon a time, today’s big shooter franchises were completely new IPs that nobody had heard of.  It’s easy to forget that players reward bold innovation, provided that it’s really good.’
Ham went on reassure us that Brink will have the kind of quality gameplay that will make gamers sit up and take notice. ‘We’ve been refining our brand of objective-driven gameplay for nearly 10 years now,’ he told us ‘and we’re looking forward to bringing it to a new generation of gamers with Brink… [we’re going] to finally bridge the gap between solo, co-op, and multiplayer once and for all.’
His comments came in a recent interview with IncGamers in which he also spoke about the inspiration behind the ‘Ark’ setting, the game’s unique art style and how to prevent players feeling lost in a game that has so much going on.
Part one of our extensive chat with Mr Ham can be read here. Look out for part two tomorrow. You can also read our hands-on preview of Brink here.
