Like any half-decent RPG, Cyberpunk 2077 has romance options. No role-playing game worth its salt would be without them. However, with CD Projekt Red’s latest attempt to revamp their game, there are a number of new prospective love interests introduced. Idris Elba plays the moody Reed in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, and Songbird takes the role of the Femme Fatale, but can she be romanced?
Can you romance Songbird in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty?
Players of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty are going to have to be happy with what they have in the base game. Songbird is not a romance option in the expansion. In fact, there are no new love interests available to players. Even the dulcet tones of Idris Elba aren’t going to be available as sweet nothings whispered in V’s ear.
It is a shame not to add a new romance option. The relationship between the player and Songbird does become quite intense. There is a lot of chemistry between Songbird and V during the missions. However, they never transpire into anything more than friendship in Phantom Liberty.
As I played through the game, I often felt it was leaning towards a possible romance with a number of the characters, including Myers. However, this goes against the gritty crime fiction vein. The detective often gets a smooch from the damsel in distress, but rarely anything more than that.
All new characters
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty introduces all sorts of new characters to the game, dropping one very large celebrity cameo… again. The various characters in the expansion have been fleshed out with enormous amounts of voice lines. This fits lots of new lore into the game within a few short hours.
By the time Phantom Liberty is over, you will feel like you know each of the characters better than their own mothers. However, none of this knowledge can be used to romance your way into Songbirds cyberpants.
