THQ has confirmed that the information contained in Thursday’s leak was correct and that Relic is working on Company of Heroes 2. The follow-up to this highly regarded real-time strategy title is due for release in “early” 2013 and will focus on the eastern front of World War II.
That much we already knew, but a few extra details have now been released too. The game will use Relic’s own “Essence 3.0” engine, which you can take a look at in the lone screenshot issued with this announcement (above).
Expect to be using new commander abilities in this sequel, along with dynamic battle tactics (whatever they are) and environmental destruction (that one makes sense).
Get set for some DLC too, because THQ’s Danny Bilson is eager to mention the “strong post-launch digital content plan that enhances and expands the product’s lifecycle”.
