Bohemia will be pleased as punch with the latest numbers pulled from Steam by DayZ creator Dean Hall.

Still in alpha, DayZ Standalone is proving to be a top seller having now sold a whopping 2 million copies on Steam. Dean shared the occasion on Twitter.

The game is not expected to hit beta until later this year and progress has been a little sluggish in the past few months due to the team sorting out mouse controls and other technical issues. It’s pretty good going though, the game only went into early access at the end of last year.

Thanks to its open ended gameplay, even if is lacking features at the moment, there’s obviously enough in the game to entice new players to part with their cash and keep everyone entertained. All we need now is some way to move about instead of walking or running.
