Diablo 4: Best Sorcerer Build

Hell is about to literally freeze over.

The Sorcerer class is a very interesting role to use. As our friends over at Attack of the Fanboy stated, the character is great but a glass cannon. So you may have a really hard time playing Diablo 4. I’ve found no matter what build you create for this role, it’s best to be behind the party and offer that supplemental power. While the Sorcerer can be beaten somewhat easily, what they can do makes them a real threat to Lilth’s minions when built right. If you want a guide to creating the best Sorcerer build in Diablo 4, read this guide.

The best Sorcerer build in Diablo 4

This build is the opposite of the Fire Sorcerer Build, in that it uses ice damage rather than fire. It has somewhat of the same meta but is quicker on the attack. However, as mentioned before, you should still use this build and class behind your team. Diablo 4 has a Hardcore and Softcore mode. It seems no matter which difficulty you pick, there will be a challenge, so be prepared to be pushed to the limit for this class.

  • Flickering Frost Bolt – You throw an ice bolt dealing thirty-five percent damage and chills them for fifteen percent.  By purchasing this skill a third time you can get Flickering Frost Bolt. It does the base abilities, however, it makes frozen enemies vulnerable for about 3 seconds.
  • Flickering Arc Lash – Send out an arch of lighting that swipes in front of you several times. It deals forty-two percent damage to enemies in front and stuns them for 2 seconds for every ten swipes. When you unlock the final upgrade, Flickering Arc Lash, your movement goes up by 6 percent for 5 seconds. However, only happens when Arc Lash hits an enemy.
  • Destructive Frozen Orb – This skill creates an orb, chills enemies for thirty-four percent, and deals thirty-percent damage. When the orb explodes, it hits for another twenty-nine percent damage. The third and final tier for this skill you can buy, Destructive Frozen Orb, restores 5 mana when you hit a target that’s frozen.
  • Devastation – Having an ability that increases your mana is essential for the Sorcerer. When equipped, Devastation increases mana by about 3 percent. In order to unlock this skill, you just need to unlock the Sorcerer’s core skills.
  • Enhanced Frost Nova – You create an ice storm kind of attack that freezes enemies around you for about 3 seconds. Upgrading it one more time gives you Enhanced Frost Nova, downing enemies frozen enemies by Frost Nova reduces the cooldown by 1 second, and stacks for 4 seconds.
  • Invoked Ice Blades – Normally, Ice Blades slash enemies for around 6 seconds, causing twenty-two percent damage and making them vulnerable for two seconds. Invoked Ice Blades can be bought by investing in the blades 3 times. When you unlock it, you gain ten percent movement speed per Ice Blade Attack.

Control the elements

Sorcerers typically stay behind and do devastating damage that impacts multiple enemies. This build does just that but also acts as a crowd-control class, so playing in a group would be key. Resulting in freezing enemies, making their attacks less of a threat. This becomes important during boss battles, or going through dungeons, when half of the enemies are weaker and the other half is frozen, you can get through easier. Additionally, the build makes enemies vulnerable making your damage increase on them and increasing your attack speed. This becomes important during high-level boss battles when you have to deal with them. In typical Diablo fashion, bosses spawn an infinite number of enemies, making those enemies almost one-shot can be helpful, and this is where the build shines the most.

It’s important to note that while this build helps you play aggressively, you should find a balanced way to fight. Because even if you overcome the enemy, you’re still a walking glass cannon. So zipping in and out and getting with your group is important. During my time playing this build, I found the AoE damage it does made it so I wouldn’t need to jump into the fray as much and helped me live longer. So when I was in the middle of the chaos I did a lot of damage,  kept enemies at bay, and then got out quickly. This balanced way to play helped in the long run.
