In celebration of the Lunar New Year, Blizzard has exciting activities to partake in and cosmetics to unlock. Here’s everything you need to know about this event.

Lunar Awakening limited-time event for Diablo 4, explained

Starting February 6, 10 AM PST, and ending February 20 at the same time, you can partake in the Lunar Awakening limited-time event. This is for players both in the Seasonal and Eternal Realms. As described in the blog post from Blizzard, there are mysterious shrines across Sanctuary that can imbue you with powers.

The point of this event is to find and activate these Lunar Shrines around Sanctuary to earn 50% bonus XP (multiplicative), 30% increased movement speed, and additional buffs, alongside Ancestor’s Favor reputation.

You’ll first want to travel to the northern section of Ked Bardu and speak with Ying-Yue, who runs the Lunar Night Market. This is essentially the main hub for this LTE. Here, you can redeem the Ancestor’s Favor reputation you’ve earned for special rewards.

Lunar Shrines and Ancestors Favor

You’ll be able to spot these shrines everywhere, whether you’re inside dungeons or exploring the overworld. You can’t miss them, as they have a dragon-like appearance in celebration of the Year of the Dragon (best Chinese zodiac, totally not biased). You can also spot them on your map, as they have a unique icon.

Another thing to note is that Nightmare Dungeon Sigils have a chance to have an Ancestor’s Favor dungeon affix. This will guarantee that only Lunar Shrines will spawn inside this dungeon, and you’ll receive a 10% Glyph XP bonus after completing the dungeon. In total, there are seven different augmented Lunar Shrine effects:

  • Artillery Shrine – Casts have a chance to summon a holy bomb.
  • Blast Wave Shrine – Each explosion summons a cluster bombardment.
  • Channeling Shrine– Increased attack speed and chance to reset cooldowns.
  • Conduit Shrine – Summon frequent, powerful, shocking strikes.
  • Greed Shrine – Chance to summon a Treasure Goblin. While the Shrine is active, 25 kills summons a Treasure Goblin, and 50 kills summons a second.
  • Lethal Shrine – Chance to instantly execute a struck monster, causing Fear on surrounding monsters. Note: this includes Elites, but excludes Bosses and other Players.
  • Protection Shrine – You reflect all incoming damage. Damage reflected scales with Level and World Tier.

As soon as you activate one of these shrines, spirits will start to spawn, allowing you to immediately use your newfound powers on them.

Lunar Awakening cosmetic rewards

  • Diablo 4 Lunar Awakeing Limited Time Event Cosmetics
  • Diablo 4 Lunar Awakeing Limited Time Event Bundles

In total, there are 10 Ancestor’s Favor reputation levels you can earn. Throughout these levels, there are six different Lunar-themed cosmetic rewards you’ll unlock. Not only that but there are more Lunar Awakening cosmetics and bundles in the shop.

Otherwise, if you’re still trudging through the Season 3 questline, we have a list of all the quests for Diablo 4 Season 3.
