Dragon Age Breaks Site Records

EA has announced that the official web site for Dragon Age: Origins has set a new record for site traffic.

DragonAge.com is currently the most trafficked website in the EA network this year, surpassing even the main EA hub. Due to Dragon Age’s popularity, EA’s social network saw a massive boost in the number of registrations, and the BioWare community now sits at five million registered users. The Facebook fan page for Dragon Age also broke records, when fans reached 30,000, making it the fastest growing EA property on Facebook.

EA is now hoping the hype will pass over onto the upcoming Mass Effect 2, which is released next year. Traffic to the official site already grew by a third when news of the collector’s edition came out, followed by a video of the enemies in the game (see screenshots and info here). Now EA has relaunched the site, redesigning it to allow more connectivity to BioWare’s social network.

“We want to thank our fans for their enthusiasm and ongoing support. The passion within the community is not only helping drive momentum for Dragon Age referrals but our actively engaged fan base is eager for future content releases, which we are committed to deliver,” said Dr. Ray Muzyka, co-founder, BioWare and group general manager of the RPG/MMO Group of EA. “We could not be more excited about the outstanding community growth. The connection we are fostering with our fans is direct and personal. This tremendous community will help set the stage for an incredible Mass Effect 2 launch on January 26th.
