How to not get swallowed by Duneworm in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Defeating the Duneworm without getting swallowed is the most challenging objective for the Death from Below Fiend Intel. However, there is a trick that can help you complete this objective with ease. Whenever the Duneworm digs itself into the ground, switch characters right before it pounces up to swallow you.

The most important thing to know about being swallowed is that the Duneworm will target the character you control. Every time I switched characters right before it shot up to swallow me, I threw off the attack’s tracking and it missed me.

It took me over 10 tries to pull this off successfully, so don’t worry too much if you’re struggling. If you fail, press pause and retry the battle. You can also try by simply dodging, but this never worked for me since the Duneworm tracks you regardless of perfect dodges.

To increase your chances of not being swallowed by the Duneworm, you need to know how to pressure the enemy so you can complete the fight as fast as possible. One of Death from Below Fiend Intel’s objectives is to stagger the enemy, so that’s another reason to know this information.

The Duneworm is weak to Ice magic, meaning you should enter this fight with Ice Materia equipped to pressure it.

Using enough ice on Duneworm will cause it to stagger, which you should then close in and unload as many ATB abilities as possible. I recommend using Yuffie’s Art of War ability when the Duneworm is staggered, quickly draining its health.

You will quickly complete all objectives by switching characters when Duneworm goes underground and using Ice magic when it’s above ground. You will no longer get swallowed by this annoying worm, and that’s the best feeling!
