Closing Statement is a secret mission story that you unlock after finishing The Tour. It lets you complete the other challenges in Hitman 3‘s Mendoza level/The Farewell, including “To Loyalty” and “Murder by Proxy.” Here’s our guide to help you out.

Hitman 3: Mendoza – Closing Statement secret mission story guide
Hitman 3‘s Closing Statement secret mission story has two major assassination challenges that you can complete. “Murder By Proxy” can be done normally as you progress. Meanwhile, “To Loyalty” requires you to have reached a particular area before finishing The Tour. For now, I’ll talk about how this secret mission story normally goes before we discuss “To Loyalty.”
Anyway, Closing Statement triggers if one of your targets, Tamara Vidal, is still alive at the end of The Tour. Once you reach the barrel room, your other target, Don Archibald Yates, invites her as well as Diana Burnwood to a meeting. Yates’ security officer will talk to the sommelier (showing a hidden room behind a tinted window). It seems Yates wants a bottle of 1945 Grand Paladin to celebrate the occasion.
There are two ways to enter the wine freezer:
- “Going Above” feats challenge – Go to the security room above the ventilation room. Use the terminal and select “Disable Security Doors.” Reach the wine freezer within a minute to complete the challenge.
- “Going Below” feats challenge – If you have the screwdriver from the wine production room, you can drop down a ledge and open the ventilation shaft to the wine freezer.
Either way, smack the sommelier and his assistant and take the former’s attire. As for the 1945 Grand Paladin, the passcode is “1945.”
Drop your illegal items in the shaft and follow Yates’ security chief through the giant barrel’s hidden door. Continue onward to get frisked and enter the villa’s basement.
Here, you’ll see several members of Providence (you can steal the attires from the dudes later to complete a discovery challenge). With Arthur Edwards’ rise to the top, Yates is hoping that he’ll become the new Constant. That’s what the 1945 Grand Paladin is for, a celebration of his achievement.
Anyway, place the bottle on the table. Agent 47 can also talk about its history.
“Murder by Proxy” assassination challenge (first tally) – Yates will then talk about “traitors” while accusing Diana Burnwood (who’s also in the running to become the Constant). Tamara Vidal will argue with Yates, only to get shot by his security chief. Diana will then get escorted off, and you have 10 minutes to save her.
“To Loyalty” assassination challenge – Before we get to that, let’s talk about this particular challenge. The thing is, if you attempt to put lethal poison during the meeting, everyone will notice you and Yates won’t bother to drink the wine.
As such, you need to reach the basement before completing The Tour/before doing Closing Statement. You can use any shortcuts you’ve unlocked, as well as the villa basement key in Yates’ bedroom.
As long as you’re disguised as a guard and the goons here are further away, you can put lethal poison in Yates’ cup. If you don’t have lethal poison yet, you can acquire it via:
- Reaching mastery rank 10 in Berlin/Apex Predator.
- Picking up the poison flower and using the distiller in the grape fields’ shed (mentioned in The Tour walkthrough).
- Going to the cinema room and using a lockpick to open the door underneath the stairs.
Do the Closing Statement mission story as you normally would. Once Yates has Diana dragged away, he’ll drink the poisoned wine and you’ll complete “To Loyalty.”
Rescuing Diana Burnwood
In any case, you have only a few minutes to save Diana. If you’re still dressed as the sommelier, go to Yates’ villa and try to find a mercenary that you can clobber. Switch to that outfit and go to Yates’ bedroom. There are three hostiles here, and you have to take them out.
If you didn’t poison Yates, speak with Diana who’ll tell you about her plan to attack the ambitious don. Just sit down and wait for him.
Yates will bring his security chief and one more guard. He and Diana will have a confrontation, and Diana will end up stabbing him. The two guards will be surprised, and you’ll have an opening to eliminate both of them. Push the knife into Yates to finish him off.
Note: I’ve tried various methods, but it seems either guard will notice you when you try to incapacitate them. You’ll probably get spotted and fail a Silent Assassin run.
With Yates dead, Diana will tell Agent 47 to meet her on the dance floor. You can escape any way you see fit, but you do need to grab Agent 47’s classic suit on the clothing rack next to the fireplace. This will complete the Closing Statement mission story.
“Murder by Proxy” assassination challenge (second tally) – Lastly, before you exfiltrate from Hitman 3‘s Mendoza level, hold off for a bit and roam around for maybe a couple of minutes. It takes a while, but your second tally for “Murder by Proxy” will get updated.
