Hogwarts Legacy: Dragon Egg Guide – Fire and Vice, and Poached Egg

How to tame your dragon, eh?

Yes, there is, indeed, a Dragon Egg in Hogwarts Legacy. And, no, you’re not going to go around pulling it straight into your Nab-sack. Instead, it’s part of a main quest, which eventually leads to a couple of companion tasks. Here’s our Hogwarts Legacy Dragon Egg guide to help you with Fire and Vice, and Poached Egg, two quests from Poppy Sweeting.

The two quests involving the Hogwarts Legacy Dragon Egg are Fire and Vice, and Poached Egg. These become available later in the campaign:

Fire and Vice

Remember Poppy? She’s the student you met during your first Beasts Class. She’s pretty much this game’s version of Hagrid (R.I.P.) and Newt Scamander, owing to her love of magical creatures. A bit later in the campaign, though, she enlists your help after finding out about what poachers have done. This starts the Fire and Vice quest in Hogwarts Legacy.

It’s actually not too perplexing. The two of you will walk around the wilderness until you discover a tent, which happens to be enchanted as there’s an entire Dragon Fight Pit inside, complete with onlookers and people betting on the action. This is also where you’ll discover the Hogwarts Legacy Dragon Egg, and you’ll use Alohomora to unlock the container. Shortly after that, you’ll need to battle a dozen poachers and their goblin pals. Then, you’ll free the dragon (use Accio to pull the handle).

Poached Egg

Once you’ve finished another main quest and a conversation with Poppy (it should appear below the main quests in your log), you should receive Poached Egg. It only has a dialogue icon, so you might think that it’s just a short talk between the two of you. However, this will take you to an entirely different area.

Poppy has discovered the dragon’s lair, and she wants to return the egg to its momma. For the most part, you’ll battle a few wolves, and repair bridges using Reparo. But, the biggest challenge comes from the dragon herself. There are several sections where the dragon will breathe fire, and you’ll have to run to the next area. To make it out safely, duck behind cover and wait for the dragon to spew flames. Once she’s idle, quickly sprint to the next wall or obstacle. If you unlocked the Core: Swift talent, you can do your teleport dodges for faster traversal.

At the end of this ordeal, you’ll return the Dragon Egg to its mother, which will also complete the Poached Egg sidequest in Hogwarts Legacy.
