Hogwarts Legacy: How to solve Grand Staircase Tower door puzzle

Hogwarts Legacy has several Animal Symbol Door Puzzles. One of these happens to be in the Grand Staircase Tower, a fairly iconic and memorable location if you watched the Harry Potter films (it’s the one with magical steps and lots of portraits that greeted students). Hogwarts Legacy Grand Staircase Tower Door Puzzle guide

To solve the Grand Staircase Tower Door Puzzle in Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll want to make your way to the area via the Floo Flames fast travel point (Grand Staircase tab). If you’re in the area, simply follow the looping steps almost all the way to the top. You should, eventually, see the puzzle carved neatly on a wall next to several portraits.

To solve it, you’ll want to remember these clues:

• Similar to other puzzles of this type, each animal symbol corresponds to a number from zero to nine, going from the bottom-left of the arch to the bottom-right.
• Interact with the puzzle by pressing the “F” key to see the equation. There are two sets that require unknown symbols (i.e., “?” for the top equation and “??” for the bottom equation).
• You’ll notice a number in the center of each equation. This represents the sum of the numbers and/or symbols around it.

Given the above, we can solve the Grand Staircase Tower Door Puzzle in Hogwarts Legacy by doing the following:

• Top equation (“?”) requires the Lizard (6) -> 15 + Elephant (2) + Lizard (6) = 23. The plate is just a short distance away as you climb up the steps.
• Bottom equation (“??”) requires the Cthulhu (7) -> Hydra (3) + Killer Bacteria (9) + Cthulhu (7) = 19. When facing the puzzle directly, turn around and you’ll see the plate on the landing’s wall.
