Diablo 4 looks like it won’t have any shortage of things for you to do. If you played any of the betas, you could see how much there was. While the story seems rich and deep, you’ll get sucked in by the many side activities. This includes events like beating the World Boss. They just don’t serve as things to keep you engaged longer, but they also impact gameplay quite a bit. As you roam around Sanctuary, you’ll come across Altars of Lilith which are named after the game’s primary antagonist. They are hard to come by and for good reason. We didn’t have a good idea of how many there were in the beta, however, read this guide to learn how many Altars of Lilith are in Diablo 4.

One of the mechanics that Blizzard Entertainment has been emphasizing is having the freedom to play the game your own way. This means exploring the many events littered around the world. To add more play time to the short betas, I did all the strongholds in Fractured Peaks. It made a difference because I was able to take on more challenging bosses with ease due to leveling quickly.
Of all the events and things you can collect, some are more popular than others. Altars of Lilith are quite important and from my experience, they are worthwhile. The more I found, I noticed my Necromancer was getting stronger. So going off the beaten path to find an Altar can be a good idea.
At the time of writing this and scouring the internet for assistance, there looks to be around 160 in the entire game. Since I’ve only played the betas and haven’t experienced the game fully, there could be more.

What do the Altars do?
Upon interacting with them, you get permanent buffs that impact various areas of your build. They could increase stats such as Dexirty or Intelligence. Additionally, you can get Murmuring Obols, which can help you get ultra-rare gear. The Altars of Lilith are a good way of making each character unique, so in theory, two players that are the same class can have drastically different experiences.
