How The Tower works in Geometry Dash — Strategy and Mechanics Explained

I didn't have "Geometry Dash becomes a platformer" on my 2023 bingo card...

Geometry Dash has had a very surprising new game mode added. The Tower. Strangely found in the normal level select, this game mode has many surprises.

What is The Tower in Geometry Dash?

The Tower is a new game mode in Geometry Dash introduced in update 2.2. You can find it at the very end of the level selection, which is a rather bizarre place considering all other added levels have had their own spaces.

When you enter The Tower, you’ll find a series of levels. These levels differ from every single level in the game, however, as these levels are platformers — brilliantly designed ones at that.

For PC players, the normal buttons result in a jump, however the default movement keys will move you from side to side. For mobile players, there will now be two arrows on the bottom left. I’m sure you can work that out.

There are coins to collect, along with special blue coins to find, and even a time to beat each level. If you find all of one collectible or beat the time, then you’ll be rewarded with a secret coin, just like the ones hidden in other normal Geometry Dash levels.

You don’t need to complete all three tasks in one run to get the secret coins. Like in an average level, you can reattempt the level again and again to get each secret coin at a time. Once the level is over, you’ll see the three boxes that correlate to the three tasks, and you must bump the boxes to collect the secret coins.

These platforming levels are a literal game changer, and there are so many pleasant surprises that I won’t spoil for you here.

Tips and strategies for The Tower in Geometry Dash

From my time in The Tower, I have created a list of all the things you’ll want to know if you want to find all of the secret coins and beat all the levels.

Firstly, all the secret tricks that RobTop likes to put in the usual levels – fake walls, sneaky placements, the lot – can be found in The Tower to conceal the hidden blue coins. So rub up against every wall and never trust something that may seem slightly out of place.

For your first run, prioritize having fun and completing the level so you know the metrics for the secret stars, so you can revisit the level to collect them all. Each level is rather short, so don’t worry about playing each level as few times as possible.

Note that the level only ends when you pass the three blocks at the end of the level and have fully exited the scene. Don’t make the stupid mistake I made when I collected a secret coin, restarted the level, and then got another. The progress didn’t save as it was technically never finished, even though I was at the end.

To interact with levers or switches, simply jump when the circle prompt rises. There is no separate button for interacting with these features.

Also, be sure to take your time (unless you’re trying to collect the time trial secret coin). As you’re not being propelled forward at insane speeds, and you’re in control of the movement, caution and apprehension can be afforded.

Finally, be very careful with the ground you’re stepping on, as it may lower or break down. In some sections, you gotta go quickly!
