How to burst through a door under the effect of Peppermint in Fortnite

Fortnites really getting creative with this one.

Fortnitemares has brought a boatload of new quests and items to Fortnite Island, with some of them being similar to normal quests while others are more Halloween-themed. They’re quite a bit of fun to do and you’ll even get rewarded with various cosmetics for completing most of them.

Another aspect of keeping the whole Halloween theme alive is that Fortnitemares quests get regularly updated every three days with brand new objectives. On October 23, 2023, a brand-new set of quests called “Be The Nitemare” was released. In one of those quests, you need to burst through a door under the effect of Pepper Mint, whatever the hell that means. If you’re having trouble with this quest, look no further as today we’re going to dissect how to do this quest and gain that sweet, sweet XP.

Where to find Peppermint in Fortnite?

Before you can engage in some bursting, you will need Pepper Mint. It is a type of candy that makes you go really fast for a few seconds as smoke comes out of your ears. While candy is found all over Fortnite Island in candy baskets, the best chance of finding Pepper Mint candy is in Slappy Shores.

Once you drop down there, look for pumpkin-shaped Halloween candy baskets. They can be found in front of doors. Search a few of them until you’ve got a Pepper Mint. You could also choose to keep the other candies for a separate quest where you need to consume candies after you do this one.

Now you need to find a door and walk a few paces away from it. It can be any door, so find a house with a closed door and get into position. Eat the candy to make your character get a sugar rush, and start sprinting towards the door. Note that you don’t need to press E to open the door, that’s what “burst through a door” implies, but you do need to initiate sprinting by pressing Shift.

If you did this correctly, the quest will be marked off as completed and you’ll see a green check mark next to it. It’s best to go through a couple of more doors before checking though, as the Peppermint can wear off fairly quickly before you can try again. And that’s it! You should have now snagged yourself a cool 15,000 XP and got one step closer to unlocking the Fortnitemare quest cosmetics.
