How to craft Vicious Powder in Terraria

I've never seen such an aggressive powder.

Vicious Powder is a useful item in Terraria that allows you to spread the Crimson anywhere you want. It also is a useful ingredient. But how do you craft it, and can you make it in Corruption worlds, too?

Getting Vicious Powder in Terraria

Vicious Powder is available in a Crimson Terraria world. Throwing one will spread Crimson on the natural blocks that it touches. You can also throw it on a penguin, a goldfish, and bunnies into their nasty Crimson Counterparts.

Vicious Powder is more commonly used as an ingredient for the Worm Food or the Poisoned Knife, the former being needed to spawn the World Eater boss.

Vicious Powder is dropped by enemies. But, if you’d rather craft it to skip the fighting, you can.

To craft Vicious Powder, all you need is one Vicious Mushroom, which can be found dotted around the Crimson. They’ll also grow back, so you can wait for more to spawn if you can’t find any. Simply hit the thing to break it, and it’ll pop into your inventory.

With an Alchemy Table or Placed Bottle, you can craft the Vicious Powder using the Vicious Mushroom. You can also purchase the Vicious Powder from the Druid Town NPC for 1 silver coin per pouch. This is pretty expensive, so I’d recommend braving the Crimson to pluck some mushrooms.

Can you make Vicious Powder in a Corruption Terraria World?

In Terraria, upon generating a new world, you’ll either contain the Corruption biome or the Crimson biome. Each biome has its own boss and its own enemies and items, although they parallel each other almost perfectly.

The Vicious Powder is the Crimson counterpart to the Vile Powder, found in a Corruption world, so it is simply impossible to craft it in a Corruption world as the biome will spawn Vile Mushrooms, not Vicious ones. Not without mods, at least, such as Fargo’s Both Evils, which allows you to spawn a world with both the Crimson and the Corruption.

This means that you won’t be able to craft the Bloody Spine in hopes of spawning the Brain of Cthulhu in your Corruption world. You’ll either have to put up with it or generate a new world if you want to face that boss.
