How to evolve Lombre in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet – The Teal Mask DLC

Gonna need an evolution stone.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are games that allow you to do things in any order you like, thanks to the new open-world structure for the series. You can participate in the main story, or you can simply run around catching whatever Pokémon you like, it’s completely up to you. The first DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, The Teal Mask, is no different to this either. You spend time running around a new open-world area, and finding some new Pokémon you can’t find anywhere else in the game. This includes some brand new Pokémon, like Applin’s new evolution Dipplin as well as some Pokémon from previous games. One of those Pokémon from previous games is the Lotad line, and evolving it into a Ludicolo can be tricky if you don’t know the evolution method. Therefore, here’s how to evolve Lombre in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet – The Teal Mask DLC.

To be able to evolve Lombre into Ludicolo in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you’re going to need to find a Water Stone. You can get one of these in various locations such as Delibird Presents after you earn three gym badges, and finding them in the wild via the glowing spots that you can pick up on the ground. That last method is an RNG roll, so buying them at Delibird Presents is generally what I would recommend for you to do.

Can you evolve Lombre too early?

Some stone evolutions don’t have moves that they learn after they evolve via stone evolution, and sadly Lombre/Ludicolo is one of those evolutions. According to my research, Ludicolo’s only moves that it gets by level up are Fake Out, Rain Dance, and Bubble Beam, which are all given immediately. If you’re picking a Lotad up in the Teal Mask DLC, then you should be okay, as they’re pretty high level already and your Lombre should be past the level 57 move that it learns, which is Energy Ball. You could level it up to 64 and receive Hydro Pump before evolving, but you can get some good water moves from TMs instead, like Surf if you fancy something different, or even Hydro Pump itself.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available for purchase from the Nintendo Store.
