How to find Archie and get the new Blue Steel Shader in Destiny 2

Initiate Good Boy Protocol

Bungie sneakily added a mini-quest line in a weekly update. The quest isn’t just filler either, and the reward is a pretty unique Shader. If you want your Guardian to look as cool as mine, here’s how to find Archie and get the new Blue Steel Shader in Destiny 2.

The funny part about this quest is that it doesn’t even have a marker to show you where it begins. Head to where Archie, the dog, usually sits near Drifter and Ada-1 and interact with the green footprints on the ground.

If you’ve not visited Archie before, he’s near the Annex Fast Travel point. You can also reach him by heading down the staircase near Ikora.

When you interact with the footprints, a Quest Marker will appear in the Synthweave room opposite. Chat with Ada-1, and you’ll be given the first of several clues to track down Archie.

Investigate the Ramen Shop

Your first clue is to visit the Ramen shop. If you’re like me and didn’t even know there was such a place at the Tower, it’s dead opposite Ikora. Go inside or stand in the doorway, and you can interact with the paw prints to get your next clue.

Your next destination is Cayde-6’s Shrine by Zavala. This location is easy to find, and the shrine is just next to the tree in the picture above. Investigate the paw prints once again for the next destination.

Head past the Security Checkpoint to salute a feathered friend

This location is a little harder to find if you don’t know where Colonel is. Colonel is Cayde-6’s Chicken, and you can find him in the Hanger. Head down the stairs next to the Postmaster and follow the path around until the ‘Hanger’ prompt appears in the bottom left corner of the screen.

You’ll find Colonel and the next set of footprints to the right of the main staircase (pictured above).

Archie’s Last Stop

You can likely find the previous destinations by accident, but this one is pretty difficult. I’ve been playing Destiny 2 for years and had no idea you could get here.

Archie is in a booth by the Postmaster on the way to the Hangar (pictured above). The issue is the booth is locked from the inside, and there’s no obvious way to get in.

Head back to the hangar and up the stairs, where you usually find Xur standing. When you reach the top, follow the walkway until you reach the railing.

Carefully vault the railing and then jump over to where I’ve marked in the image above.

Walk through the large pipe and into the vents. Follow the ventilation shaft until you reach a pink room.

You’re almost there now. There’s a small doorway by the vent you came from. Head into there and follow the path. When you reach another set of vents, look up, and you can jump into the booth and interact with Archie.

Return to Ada-1

Return to Ada-1 and speak with her to complete the quest. Oddly enough, you don’t get the Shader as a quest reward, and must access it through the Triumph menu. Open your Character menu, scroll over to Journey, and then Triumphs.

You’ll find the Blue Steel Shader in the Secrets section of the Into The Light Triumph list. This menu has several other Triumphs, which may indicate more hunts for the best boy in the Tower in the future.

Into the Light has added a ton of much-needed content into Destiny 2, including a tricky Exotic quest. The jump puzzles are nasty, but it’s worth slogging through for the rewards.
