The Shadow Company sure are a demanding lot in Warzone 2 DMZ Season 5. Even at Tier 1, Shadow Company missions are challenging, and many have multiple steps. A couple of early missions task Operators with hunting specific enemies and recovering intel. How to find Konni Soldiers and Battle Notes in Warzone 2 DMZ Season 5
You don’t need to do anything special for Konni Soldier to show up, but you need to know where to look. If you’re hunting for Konni Soldiers, you’re likely on the ‘Thinning The Herd’ Quest. This Mission tasks Operators with killing Konni Soldiers across several maps.
Konni Soldiers appear in the new ‘Active Combat Zones.’ As these are random, your best bet is to listen for combat and approach those areas. Long, drawn-out battles usually occur between AI combatants, and you’ll find Konni Soldiers there. You’ll sometimes get lucky and find small groups walking around even outside these hot zones. This seems to happen more on smaller maps like Ashika Island.
Another method to find Active Combat Zones is to check the map at the start of the game and look for areas where the red airstrike markers group up. These will usually be Active Combat Zones and are worth visiting for the high-tier loot, even if you’re not on a quest.

These combatants wear distinctive black and red outfits that should be easy to spot. Some Konni Soldiers are armored but shouldn’t pose any more of a threat than standard AI. You can employ the same search method across each map. On Vondel, I found a large group of Konni Soldiers by the University (F3 on the map,) but your mileage may vary.
How to find the Battle Notes
Retrieving Battle Notes is part of the ‘Battle Plans’ quest, and it’s tasks like this that make the Shadow Company missions so challenging. Battle Notes are a rare drop from Konni Soldiers. Unfortunately, the drop rate is so low you’ll have to kill a ton of Konni forces to find any. These Battle Notes can drop on any map and from any type of Konni unit. As the Battle Notes are so rare, you’ll have to make several trips to get enough for the quest.
