How to beat an MRAP in Warzone 2 DMZ

Overpowered? Sounds like a skill issue.

One massive change to Warzone 2 DMZ in Season 5 is the addition of MRAPs to the map. These hulking armored vehicles are a menace and feel borderline unfair to fight. Fortunately, they have one fatal flaw, and with the right equipment, you can make entire squads regret stepping foot in one. Here’s how to beat an MRAP in Warzone 2 DMZ.

If you’ve tried to take an MRAP down on your own, you’ll know what an uphill struggle it is. The MRAP is built like a tank and kicks out enough firepower to flatten an army. Even Killstreaks like the Mortar Strike and Air Strike are seemingly ineffective. RPGs don’t fare any better.

One weapon can wreck an MRAP in a single hit, and that’s the JOKR Rocket Launcher. If you’ve never used it, you must aim at your target for a few seconds for the JOKR to lock on. Once locked on, you can fire a rocket straight up into the air. After a few seconds, the missile will come down and obliterate the MRAP and anyone unfortunate enough to be inside. The crew inside the MRAP are notified when the vehicle is being targeted, so keep your wits about you and try to stay hidden.

Thanks to the Abandoned Vehicle quest, expect to see a lot of MRAPs prowling around at the start of the season. These vehicles are such a severe threat that I recommend bringing a JOKR with you whenever you visit Al Mazrah. If you’re light on Insured Slots, I would take a JOKR over a traditional weapon and scavenge on the map for a firearm.

Are there any other ways to take down the MRAP?

The JOKR is so effective everything else pales in comparison. Still, if you don’t have one, I recommend trying out the Drill Charge. A well-placed Charge on the Windscreen will kill the driver before they can escape. You’ll still have to deal with the rest of the squad, but it’s better than nothing.

If you don’t have a JOKR or a Drill Charge, my best advice is to keep out of the MRAPs way. The odds are stacked too far in your opponent’s favor without the right equipment. Remember, an MRAP Key costs $200,000, so if you see one on the map, there’s probably an entire squad inside. It may seem unfair, but as DMZ is an Extraction Shooter, sometimes the best strategy in battle is to disengage. You can decide if you want to hunt your opponents down later but focus on staying alive at all costs.

Season 5 is in its infancy, and Warzone 2 DMZ is constantly being tuned. There’s a chance that the MRAP gets altered in a future patch, but until then, the JOKR is the way to go.
