How to fix recruits missing in Manor Lords

Need more people?

Raising an army, whether that be a militia or a retinue of soldiers, is a key part of success in Manor Lords so you can defend your settlement and stake your claim in new regions.

Manor Lords is still in early access though, so there are some unintended issues that are making things harder for some players. One such problem is the “recruits missing” error, which prevents players from successfully raising an army even if they have enough people for it. Thankfully, there are a few easy fixes you can try if this is ruining your Manor Lords experience.

How to Fix the Recruits Missing Error in Manor Lords

The first thing you should do to address the recruits missing error is to make sure you actually have enough people available for your army. If you have enough people, then there are a few fixes you can try.

First, you can remove every unit except the ones you have a full set of equipment for. Then, you can just add them back. The game bugs out sometimes when distributing gear to recruits and won’t show the correct information, so a quick reset could solve the problem. If you’re encountering this issue with a retinue, then click the brush icon above the units and then hire new soldiers. This should remove the error message and let you continue normally.

Sometimes, the game will show the recruits missing error instead of the equipment missing error when you don’t have enough weapons and gear for your soldiers. Make sure to double check your equipment even if you don’t see the missing equipment error that would normally indicate that you don’t have enough stuff.

If all else fails, then you’re sadly out of luck. You can try reloading a save or completely raising a new militia or retinue from scratch, but there aren’t any other fixes that the Manor Lords community has discovered for players affected by the recruits missing bug. We’ll update this post if new solutions are found, but in the meantime, it may be best to focus on things other than combat and hope the issue remedies itself after a while.
