How to force a Pawn to launch you with Springboard in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Going up!

Fighter and Warrior Pawns in Dragon’s Dogma 2 have the Springboard Skill, which turns into Launchboard, that allows them to launch you into the air. This is useful in battle and in getting out-of-reach chests… when it works.

How to successfully use Fighter and Warrior Pawn Springboard and Launchboard in Dragon’s Dogma 2

As smart as Pawns are in Dragon’s Dogma 2, they can be really dumb at times. They also don’t know when to shut up at times, but that’s neither here nor there. I’ve struggled to get my Pawns to use their Springboard or Launchboard Skills to launch me to an area I can’t reach. Based on my experience and research, there isn’t one way to make this easier, but I’ve discovered a few tricks.

The first thing you need to get your Pawns to launch you is to have a Fighter or Warrior with the Springboard or Launchboard Skill. Launchboard is the better version of Springboard, but both work to launch you in the air. You need to spend DCP to unlock the Skill and then don’t forget to equip it.

Once you have a Fighter or Warrior in your party with Springboard or Launchboard, try using the “Go” command. Look directly at the area you want to go and press “Go” to prompt your Pawn to use Springboard or Launchboard.

I’ve experienced that this works better when your Pawn has sighted a material, chest, or other point of interest. If they discover it, your Fighter or Warrior Pawn is much more likely to suggest using Springboard or Launchboard.

Sometimes, you see a cliff that you know you can clear with Springboard or Launchboard, but your Pawn doesn’t realize you’re asking them to use their launch Skill. There’s no fix for this, but I’ve discovered that if you pick up a Pawn and threaten to throw them and aim the thrown arc toward where you want to go, your Fighter or Warrior Pawn may suggest using Springboard or Launchboard.

Of course, right when they finish their sentence suggesting that, select “Go” and they’ll get into position. And if none of this works, you can always bite the bullet and use the best Mage build to Levitate to hard-to-reach areas on your own.
