Destiny 2: How to get and complete the Tessellation Catalyst

If you remember correctly, the Tessellation is one of the very first The Final Shape weapons we ever received in Destiny 2 – back when the news about the expansion’s delay was not even a thing- and one of the many new exotics. To every Guardian who pre-ordered The Final Shape + Annual Pass edition, the Tessellation was waiting for you at the Special Deliveries Terminal at The Tower. The same thing applies to its Catalyst, which is now available at the Special Deliveries Terminal in the Tower with the release of The Final Shape.

As you might know, this is only the very first step to unlocking the Tessellation Catalyst. The next one is collecting a decent amount of kills with the Tessellation fusion rifle. This applies to every single piece of content in Destiny 2, so I suggest farming some kills across the different spots in the galaxy. However, since the removal of some seasonal content from the game, I suggest sticking to Nightfalls, Dares of Eternity, and Sorrow’s Harbor in the Moon. There are no specific enemies that will grant any bonus progression, so just shoot whatever and whoever is in your sights.

The Tessellation already has a very particular Intrinsic Trait in the form of Property: Undecidable. This will adapt its damage type to match the type of your equipped grenade, with your final blows generating grenade energy. The Tessellation Catalyst will add status effects depending on the weapon’s damage type after it uses its other trait called Property: Irreducible.

This trait will activate when you press the reload button to consume your grenade and generate an elemental explosion, making it a perfect weapon to demonstrate your Prismatic abilities.
