How to get and use Bubble Gems in Foamstars

It's like a gatcha with character stats

Bubble Gems are a big deal in Foamstars and allow you to bestow impactful buffs on your characters. Unfortunately, the system isn’t explained too well and in-game. If you’re confused, let me explain how to get and use Bubble Gems in Foamstars.

What are Bubble Gems in Foamstars

Bubble Gems bestow bonuses to your characters, and you can have three active at a time. You can check out each character’s Bubble Gems in the Customization menu. Get there through the City Map or walk to the stage at the back of the City and speak to the VIP Guest Service Duck.

It’s important to note that Bubble Gems don’t crossover between characters. Because of this, I recommend steering clear of Bubble Gems until you’ve tried every character out and have picked a favorite.

Each character can have up to three Bubble Sets, although it’ll take a while to get a single good one.

How do Bubble Gems work in Foamstars?

You can have up to three Bubble Gems active as part of a set, and they cost Energy Stones to create. The Bubble Gem you get seems entirely random and has a grade from E up to S. While you can have three active Bubble Gems, you can’t stack the same effects. For example, you can’t have 3 “Movement Speed Up” bonuses in a set.

Bubble Gems can be rerolled for the chance of a better bonus, and you can choose to keep the original if you prefer it.

Here’s where it gets a little tricky. The first Bubble Gem in a set costs one Energy Stone to buy, and it’s the same to reroll. The middle and final slots are more expensive. The second slot costs two per action, and the final slot costs three. Getting a desirable bonus in your first slot is far cheaper, so I strongly recommend investing in a great first stat before trying your luck on the remaining slots.

It’s also important to note that there is a Mercy system with Bubble Gem rarity. At the bottom of the Available Effects box, you can see how many Gems need to be created before you get a guaranteed S rank. This system can be helpful, although it’s still completely random what effect you’ll earn.

Where can I get Energy Stones in Foamstars?

The Energy Stone economy seems pretty stingy at the time of writing, but you get a few when you reach Level 5 and Level 10. You can also obtain them in the battle pass, although it will be a while before you reach the appropriate level.
