Where to get free materials in LEGO Fortnite
Almost everything you interact with in LEGO Fortnite gives you materials in some way or another. Whether it be a pile of sticks on the ground or a literal boulder in the middle of a field. However, there are certain items that you won’t be able to get anywhere. Because of this, you’ll want to pet as many animals in LEGO Fortnite as you possibly can. Animals like cows and sheep can be found throughout the map, and while it’s very nice of you to give them some head pats, it proves to be very useful.

There are three types of animals players can find grazing across the fields. Here are all the materials you can get by petting them:
- Cow — Milk
- Sheep — Wool
- Chicken — Egg
Petting an animal will give you one of each respective item, depending on the one you pet. You can attack them, however, this will only give you things like meat, and feathers specifically from chickens. Aside from friendly animals, there are hostile creatures such as wolves and spiders that give you specific items like wolf claws and silk respectively when attacked. Furthermore, other free materials are found in chests strewn around the map, llamas that explode when petted, and caves. Make sure you and your friends are exploring to your heart’s content, as you never know when you’ll come across the materials you need.
