Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: How to get gold gadgets

Gold gadgets are only available in New Game Plus which is only accessible after you’ve beaten the main Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 campaign. For a cosmetic, Insomniac Games sure does make you grind.

Gold gadgets are a final upgrade you can get for all five gadgets in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 that don’t add any gameplay mechanic like more damage or longer support but are instead only cosmetic. Each one costs a lot of Tech Parts, Rare Tech Parts, City Tokens, and Hero Tokens. Specifically, you’ll want to know how to get Tech Parts fast since you’ll need them for every gold gadget upgrade.

Here are the costs for all gold gadgets in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2:

  • Web-Shooters – 2,259 Tech Parts, 15 Rare Tech Parts, 23 Hero Tokens
  • Upshot – 1,129 Tech Parts, 18 Rare Tech Parts, 47 City Tokens
  • Web Grabber – 1,807 Tech Parts, 37 City Tokens, 30 Hero Tokens
  • Sonic Burst – 1,355 Tech Parts, 24 Rare Tech Parts, 38 Hero Tokens
  • Ricochet Web – 2,033 Tech Parts, 30 Rare Tech Parts, 28 City Tokens

I love Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 just as much as the next person, but earning thousands of Tech Parts just to get gold gadgets seems too high a price for me. If you are aiming to get 100% on your NG+ save, then you shouldn’t have a problem getting everything you need to acquire all five gold gadgets. It will take time, but you’ll get there.

Though you can’t get gold gadgets on your normal Spiderman 2 file, you can replay missions. You won’t be able to replay missions in NG+ because you’ll experience the missions all over again for the first time. That’s how you’ll get the City and Hero Tokens you need to get all five gold gadgets.
