How to get non-Drill Charge underbarrel kills in MW3

Another challenge, another day.

Modern Warfare 3 has tons of challenges that, for the most part, are optional. Some of them are straightforward in what you have to do like earning the Golden River Camo. Others could be clearer, and this is where our topic comes into play.

In MW3, there are two types of kills: normal, and non-Drill Charge, and if you read below, we’ll show how to get the underbarrel kills. It’s worth it because it goes toward your camo progression.

These kills are made by the underbarrel attachments for the Holger 556. So, make sure you have the option and the weapon unlocked first. To complete these types of kills, you need to down an enemy with an underbarrel that shoots projectiles. In this case, you have options such as SPW- 400mm HE and Corvus Masterkey. There may be more to unlock, which can be done by using the Holger 556.

Once you’re in a match and attempting to complete the challenge, you’ll need to switch fire modes to use the underbarrel. To switch modes, simply press B on your keyboard or the left button on the D-Pad for the controller. You’ll know the firing mode is different now since the reticle will look different.

Lastly, you’ll need to get 25 kills with an underbarrel attachment while using the Holger 556. This may sound easy, but if you keep on reading, I’ll show you the best ways to get those kills.

Tips to get all 25 kills

Both attachments that are mentioned above operate differently. The SPW – 400mm HE is a grenade launcher, and the Corvus Masterkey is a shotgun. Grenade launchers are great because you can hit more than one enemy with a single shot — if you can manage to make the shot land. On the other hand, the Corvus Masterkey being a shotgun is probably the way to go. If you’re playing on a smaller map like Rust, running and gunning is something you’re going to be doing all the time. Since everyone is bunched up together in a smaller space, the Corvus Masterkey attachment is perfectly suited for this situation. This can result in getting all those kills in one match.

Modern Warfare 3 is available now via Battle.net, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, and PS5.
