How to get Skeleton Keys in Warzone 2 DMZ

Walk right in.

Skeleton Keys are a new class of item in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 DMZ that all players should immediately learn how to get. These items allow players to unlock any door on the map, which greatly helps with completing specific missions and finding the best loot.

Locked doors normally require players to hunt for specific location access keys. This can complicate things like Faction missions, resulting in death in a worst case scenario. Even if finding the appropriate access card goes without a hitch, it’ll still cost you valuable time during the mission. Skeleton Keys can circumvent these complications with direct and guaranteed access.

Players can acquire Skeleton Keys at certain Buy Stations via the Barter system option. This is significant, because you cannot simply purchase one with cash. Instead, you must trade a specific item to receive a Skeleton Key.

The trade requirement to receive a Skeleton Key is a good ole’ GPU. Just as you’d expect, you’ll need to loot some PCs around the DMZ map in order to find one. GPUs are also rare floor loot, so keep your eyes peeled and you might get lucky. Once you find a GPU, bring it to the Buy Station to trade it in for a Skeleton Key.

It’s clear why Skeleton Keys are great utility items to keep in your inventory. However, there are a couple limitations to be aware of for when you finally get one. For starters, Skeleton Keys are single-use items. Utilize each wisely, such as on specific missions or rare access locations. Second, Skeleton Keys cannot be used to gain access to Building 21. Fortunately, these items will unlock doors after you’re inside of Building 21.

Now you know how to get Skeleton Keys in Warzone 2 DMZ. One such mission that Skeleton Keys are useful for is the Friendly Fire Redacted Faction mission. This requires you to reach and kill the Pyro Commander who lurks behind a locked door. For more guides, check out our Warzone 2 Guide Hub.
