Thwip, thwip!

Looking for a Grapple Glove in Fortnite OG? They’re extremely rare but here’s how you can grab one of these off-brand web shooters for yourself!

Find a Grapple Glove in rift encounters

The first way to get a Grapple Glove is by witnessing a rift encounter. Rift encounters are random events that can occur anywhere on the island. They are indicated by loud noises and bright, blue fractures of space-time that appear when a player approaches. After the whole hullabaloo is over, a structure spawns. You can find a Grapple Glove by searching the toolbox in this structure for loot.

While rift encounters are something to keep in mind in case you come across one, this method of finding a Grapple Glove is very flimsy. It’s all based on pure luck and there aren’t even any definitive places you could visit to induce a rift encounter, which is why I prefer the second method.

Supply drops

Unexpectedly, you can find Grapple Gloves in supply drops. I was surprised since that simply isn’t supposed to happen. Grapple Gloves are not Chapter 1 items, they’re from a different time, Chapter 3 Season 3 to be exact. That’s why they only show up in rift encounters – they’re space-time anomalies. Epic is strictly adding only classic Chapter 1 items back as loot so having Grapple Gloves in supply drops doesn’t make sense in this context.

I believe that this is a bug that’s been overlooked. Epic is getting sloppy with all that’s going in and out of Fortnite OG in such a short period, and it shows in the number of gameplay bugs as well. But I guess we should make hay while the sun still shines. In the same spirit, heavy shotguns that were declared vaulted can also still be found, but only in supply drops. This further supports my notion, and indicates there could be a glitch in supply drops themselves.
