A new Dark Aether Rift has been added to Modern Warfare Zombies with the release of the Season Three Reloaded update, and there are multiple new Schematics and unlockables to find within. Some players have discovered a hidden easter egg that leads to a secret boss battle inside this Dark Aether Rift, though, and you’ll be rewarded with a free weapon blueprint if you manage to defeat it.

To unlock the new Dark Aether Rift, you have to first complete the Union story mission. This involves entering the Dark Aether and defeating a powerful Disciple boss named Taoxia. After that, you’ll receive a Giraffe Toy, which is the first part of an all-new easter egg that unlocks the Dark Aether Rift permanently.

To complete the easter egg, you have to find and upgrade a Science Journal, Laptop With Stickers, and Imaginary Friend Drawing. Obtaining the items is easy enough, but you’ll need to complete the purple triangle easter egg in the tier three zone at the center of the map to upgrade them. Once that’s done, you can enter the Dark Aether Rift and start unlocking the new Schematics by completing contracts.

Where to Find the Spores and Beat Gyanxi

As is usually the case with Dark Aether Rifts, there are contracts you have to complete before the timer runs out. These will reward you with Schematics for new items like the Sergeant’s Beret and Golden Mask Filter.

After you complete all three contracts within the Dark Aether Rift, you can begin the easter egg to summon the new secret boss. In the central island of the Dark Aether Rift, spores will pop up after the contracts are completed. There are three smaller ones that must be destroyed before you can damage the largest one in the middle.

After clearing all of the spores, a Disciple boss named Gyanxi will appear. Gyanxi has the exact same mechanics as Taoxia from the Union story mission, so avoid his life-sucking powers by ducking in and out of buildings and slaying any Manglers or Mimics that he spawns to make him vulnerable to damage. After Gyanxi is defeated, you’ll unlock the Smoke Signals weapon blueprint.
