How to hide your spacesuit and helmet in Starfield

Will I ever see my outfit?

Traveling through space in the futuristic and advanced piece of technology that is your spacesuit and even your helmet is really appropriate and even photo-worthy. However, while it does look cool, imagine wearing a spacesuit even for the most trivial tasks such as eating a sandwich or going to the restroom. Your instinct will tell you to just unequip your spacesuit and helmet, but visiting the menu multiple times in the same mission doesn’t sound ideal at all. Don’t worry, there is another way to do this in Starfield.

While equipping and unequipping both your spacesuit and helmet is a pretty self-explanatory way to hide them, albeit in a very Iron Boots way, it comes with major setbacks. First of all, all the stat modifiers that both your spacesuit and helmet carry will disappear. Second of all, if you travel to any planet in the game that has no atmosphere, you will encounter a major setback. You will explode, basically. Thankfully, Bethesda has implemented a very player-friendly way to automatically hide both your spacesuit and helmet. At last, you will be able to feature your Neon Dancer outfit in all of its glory. All you have to do is the following:

  • Access your inventory.
  • Click on your spacesuit/helmet tab.
  • You will find an option that says, “Hide spacesuit/helmet in breathable environments.
  • Click on it to enable this option by pressing T — or RB if using a controller.

Now, whenever your character visits a planet or building with breathable air, you will automatically hide both of your items. Moreover, this will not remove any stat benefits, so you can still make use of them while hidden. Finally, you don’t have to click on this option whenever you equip a new helmet or spacesuit in Starfield. It will continue to be active until you disable it.
