How to increase potion capacity in Final Fantasy 16

The first thing you’re going to need to do to increase potion capacity in Final Fantasy 16 is progress the main story. To be precise, you’re going to want to progress the main story until you beat the main mission ‘Out of the Shadow’. After that you should come across a quest with the name ‘Weird Science’ in the Hideaway, this is the quest that allows you to increase your potion count.

When you get to this point in the game, make your way over to the marker on the map and accept the quest. This quest will task you with finding and taking down the Bomb King, with the reward of being able to increase your potion capacity for the first time. You can find the Bomb King by fast traveling to The Dragon’s Aery fast travel point, and you can see the Bomb King’s precise location on the map below.

Once you get there, you’ll need to take out the Bomb King. This fight should be pretty doable, I was two levels below it and still only used a few potions because I was getting a bit greedy with the amount of hits I could get. After you beat the Bomb King, the penultimate step to increase your potion capacity is to collect the bomb ash that’s lying around the arena.

Once you complete that step of the quest, the final step is to go back to Owain and give him the bomb ash. After you do this, you’ll complete the quest and have an upgraded potion capacity.

There’s also another quest later on in the game titled ‘Even Weirder Science’ which allows you to increase your potion capacity even further, this quest is accessed after you complete the ‘Across the Narrow’ main quest.
