How to recruit all party members in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Here's where to get Yuffie, Cait Sith, Vincent, and Cid.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth brings the gang back together, but not everyone is playable this time around. While you’ll assemble the entire team from the original Final Fantasy 7 before the end of Rebirth, you’ll recruit everyone in slightly different ways in this remake.

Red XIII is a fully-featured party member in Rebirth after being a non-playable ally at the end of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and Yuffie joins the party after making her debut in the Episode Intermission DLC released alongside the next-gen port of the previous game. Cid and Vincent Valentine are also present in Rebirth, but they have smaller roles and are being saved for the next game in the trilogy just like Red XIII was in Remake.

How to Recruit Yuffie in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Yuffie joins the party at the end of Chapter 6. While you’ll meet her much earlier in the game upon reaching Junon for the first time, Yuffie won’t officially become a party member until you reach Costa del Sol. Once the party finishes the main quest line of Costa del Sol and sets off for Mount Corel, Yuffie will interrupt them and ask to go with them.

Yuffie’s moveset is mostly unchanged from her appearance in Episode Intermission, but her kit has been greatly expanded now that she’s a full party member in the sequel. She specializes in fast-paced attacks and has surprisingly versatile magical capabilities thanks to her elemental Ninjutsu skills that let her imbue her attacks with different damage types.

How to Recruit Cait Sith in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

In addition to Yuffie, Cait Sith is the only other playable party member that you can recruit in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Just like in the original game, you’ll meet Cait Sith at the Gold Saucer. The party’s initial visit to the Gold Saucer takes place in Chapter 8 of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, so you’ll meet Cait Sith roughly halfway through the game.

Cait Sith won’t become a playable party member until the beginning of Chapter 9, however. At this point, the party will head to Gongaga with Cait Sith in tow and he’ll be able to participate in battle from then on. Cait Sith has the most unique playstyle of any character in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, keeping in line with his original appearance in the 1997 classic. His Moogle companion can draw aggro from enemies while he unleashes several chance-based attacks, complete with fortune telling and dice rolling.

How to Get Cid in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

While Cid was a playable party member in the original Final Fantasy 7, he’s not playable in Rebirth. The party meets Cid at the end of Chapter 9 when they need to find a way to reach Cosmo Canyon. From this point on, you’ll be able to call Cid and use the Tiny Bronco to travel between regions. The Tiny Bronco makes revisiting older areas much easier, even if the price tag is a bit steep initially.

Cid will definitely be playable in the third game in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, though, so Cid fans shouldn’t lose hope just yet. Plus, he still has plenty of screen time and feels like a core member of the party in Rebirth despite his status as a non-playable ally.

How to Get Vincent in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

A fan-favorite from the original game, Vincent Valentine returns in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. The party recruits Vincent during Chapter 11 when they return to Nibelheim near the end of the game. Just like Cid, Vincent is not playable in Rebirth.

Vincent doesn’t have a huge role in Rebirth either, so Vincent stans will have to wait until the next game for their favorite edgy boy to become a playable party member and get much more screen time. There are still some great moments with Vincent in Rebirth, but since he joins the party so late, there’s sadly not a whole lot of time for him to make an impression.

Even if Cid and Vincent aren’t playable, there are still a bunch of other characters that can help Cloud during battles in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Yuffie, Red XIII, and Cait Sith are wonderful additions to the playable cast from Remake, and you can make some incredibly powerful party compositions if you add them to your favorite lineups from the previous game.
