How to unlock Simondo in Vampire Survivors Operation Guns

The grind for new characters is real.

The Vampire Survivors Operation Guns DLC has introduced an impressive amount of new blood to the roster. These new characters have unique unlock requirements, so let me show you how to unlock Simondo, the secret 12 character, in Vampire Survivors Operation Guns.

How to evolve the Diver Mines into Atmo-Torpedo in Vampire Survivors to unlock Simondo Belmont

You can add Simondo, who is a Contra version of Simon Belmont from Castlevania, to your collection by evolving the Diver Mines for the first time. The Diver Mines are Newt Plissken’s signature weapon and can be evolved like the other Operation Guns weapons.

If you need a refresher on how to evolve Diver Mines into Atmo-Torpedo, you must level up the Diver Mines to level eight, get Attractorb to level eight, pick up a Weapon Powerup, and then open any chest. Here’s the process by which you unlock Simondo in Vampire Survivors:

  1. Unlock Newt
  2. Survive for 15 minutes with Newt to unlock Diver Mines
  3. Evolve Diver Mines to unlock Simondo Belmont

These Weapon Powerups look like metal briefcases (see the picture above) and are scattered across the Neo Galuga map. You’ll unlock these signature weapons for the entire cast if you survive 15 minutes as their owner.

It may seem like an unnecessary extra step, but unlocking the weapons this way makes evolving them much easier. I recommend spending the time surviving 15 minutes with Newt to make evolving his Diver Mines weapon much easier.

How do I unlock Newt Plissken in Vampire Survivors?

Newt has a rather unique unlock requirement, as you must find 28 Grenades on the Neo Galuga map. This task will take a while, as Grenades are a rare spawn.

I couldn’t figure out what Grenades were for the longest time, but they are these bomb-like Powerups (pictured above). Grenades are incredibly powerful as they wipe out every enemy on the screen except bosses.

Unfortunately, Grenades are hard to come by, so expect this to take a while. You can find Grenades on the ground, by breaking Light Sources, and by shooting the silver drone that hover across the screen, although the drop rate does seem pretty low.

Take your time with this one, as you’ll complete the requirements through regular gameplay. If you’re looking to min-max, you can try a character with a higher Luck stat than usual or take the Clover passive item.

The Operation Guns character roster is full of spicy additions, but don’t sleep on the new guns. There are 11 new weapons to play with and they each have an Evolution that’s well worth experimenting with. Now, it’s time to unlock Bahamut, if you have what it takes.
