While there are free content updates along with the game’s full release, A Rift in Time is sadly not one of those, bringing a lot of contention to the fanbase regarding future content. The Disney Dreamlight Valley expansion A Rift in Time can be purchased from your respective storefront, and it costs $30. However, if this is your first time loading into Dreamlight Valley, there are a few things you’ll have to take care of before starting the expansion.

Because A Rift in Time requires you to talk to certain characters in the main game, players have to complete four specific quests before getting the option to start the DLC. These quests, along with who gives you the quest, are:

  • The Dream Castle (Merlin)
  • Making Cents of Things (Scrooge)
  • Fishing Expedition (Goofy)
  • Scrooge McDuck’s Grand Re-opening (Scrooge)

If you’ve been playing the game in early access, you might have already completed these quests. Whatever the case may be, once you are done with the quests, you’ll receive a cutscene showing a hologram projector of Aladin villain Jafar landing in the Plaza.

Next, make your way over to the Plaza and on the northeast side, you’ll see that very same projector, allowing you to talk with Jafar. He’ll go over the lore implications of what happened, and ask you to come to Eternity Isle to help.

Jafar tells you that to traverse to the Eternity Isle, you require an Ancient Vessel. He’ll tell you to talk to Merlin, as he might know the whereabouts of the Ancient Vessel. Simply head on over to Merlin’s Dreamlight Library, which is located slightly southwest of the Plaza. After talking to him, he’ll tell you to meet him in the Dream Castle.

Entering the castle, follow him up the stairs to the left, and you’ll talk to him once again in front of a gate. Once he’s emptied his pockets and found the key, going through the gate takes you to Stardust Port. It seems like Gameloft is planning on releasing even more expansions, as hinted at by the empty ports around the area. Head on over to the right side of the port, and you should see an open archway with a boat in front of it. Hop on the boat, and you’ll have successfully made your way to Eternity Isle, allowing you to finally start Disney Dreamlight Valley’s A Rift in Time Expansion.
