How to unlock the ISO Hemlock in MW2 & DMZ

Grab yourself a meta-defining Assault Rifle.

The ISO Hemlock is one of the best Assault Rifles in the game right now. It’s easy to control, has almost no recoil, and hits like a dump truck! Even without optimal Attachments, this gun is a meta contender. If you want one of your own, let me show you how to unlock the ISO Hemlock in MW2 and DMZ.

No matter what mode you play, you’ll probably notice you get taken down by this thing a lot. Now you can return the favor.

How to unlock the ISO Hemlock in MW2 and DMZ

There are several ways to get this Assault Rifle, but progressing through the Battle Pass is the easiest. Even if you don’t have the Premium Pass, the Sin Nombre variant of the ISO Hemlock is unlocked in Sector C3. Sin Nombre comes with decent Attachments and a slick paint job too.

For the traditional unlock, you need to pull off 50 Long Shots with Assault Rifles. You can do this in any mode you wish, but some work much better than others. You can use any Assault Rifle you’re comfortable with for this challenge. If you’re looking for a decent build, why not try our Kastov 762 Loadout?  Here are the modes I recommend:

The Hardcore Playlist

If you have MW2, the easiest way to earn your Long Shots is in the Hardcore mode. In Core, securing your kills at range can be tricky because of damage falloff. Everyone has reduced health in Hardcore, and you can usually snag kills in a single shot, even on the other side of the map.

The Hardcore ruleset brings its own unique challenges. A slower approach to combat is encouraged. Sometimes, pitching a tent and camping a sightline is the best way to earn your Long Shots.

Ground War

Ground War is a busy mode, but you’ll see more targets further away as there are more players. If you can stomach the Hardcore rules, I recommend it over Ground War, but this is a decent backup mode to try.

Warzone

Players that don’t have MW2 are in luck, as Al Mazrah is perfect for scoring Long Shots. The map is covered in long sightlines and open areas where Assault Rifles excel. Ground Loot Assault Rifles are fine, but you’ll ideally want something with an Optic for this challenge.

The only issue you’ll face in Warzone is armor. Most players will be running around with three plates protecting their health. This means they take a lot of shots to go down. Unless you catch your opponents in the open, they may find cover and heal before you can finish the job.

Many new weapons are locked behind rather arduous tasks for Warzone players. I’m happy to announce that’s not the case for the ISO Hemlock.

Can I buy the gun with COD Points?

If you’d rather bypass the gameplay altogether, you can get the ISO Hemlock as part of a bundle on the store. At the time of writing, the following are available:

  • Classic Ghost Pack – 2400 COD Points
  • Tracer Pack: Shredder – 2400 COD Points

Can I unlock the ISO Hemlock on Shipment 24/7?

The ISO Hemlock unlock is the first challenge in a long time that you can’t do on Shipment. As Shipment is so small, no sightlines are long enough to count as a Longshot. You can technically get Longshots with pistols on this map, but that quota differs for every weapon category.
