How to win Trebuchet in Party Animals

It's time to go medieval.

One thing that has surprised me about Party Animals the most is the sheer amount of game modes and maps. There really is something for everyone, whether you’re a brawler or a strategist. Some of the more unique game modes are a little hard to figure out but are incredibly rewarding when you do. Trebuchet is one of those, and on your first go, you likely won’t have a clue what’s going on. Let’s fix that. Here’s how to win Trebuchet in Party Animals.

The rules for Trebuchet are simple enough. Detonate bombs on your opponent’s side of the river with the Trebuchet to score points. Time is of the essence, as the first to 10 points wins. I struggled with this one as I couldn’t figure out where the bombs needed to detonate. After some testing, bombs can explode anywhere on your opponent’s side to score.

The coolest thing about Trebuchet is how many ways you can play the game mode. You play a crucial part in your team’s success, whether you’re offensive or defensive. Here are a few tips to secure yourself some wins.

Go and cause havoc in person

That Trebuchet isn’t just for explosives. You can also hitch a ride to your opponent’s field with it! While behind enemy lines, you can remove bombs from their Trebuchet or defend your own as they explode. The downside is your opponent can do the same thing, and while you’re playing hero, you can lose the game. Remember to angle your camera to check on your team occasionally and be ready to return if they need you.

Defense is a power play

Trebuchet is skewed in favor of the defenders, and here’s why. An attacker has to grab a bomb, walk to the Trebuchet, carefully place it, and then pull the lever to send the payload and score. As a defender, all you have to do to erase that hard work is pick up the bomb and plop it into the river. By all means, do a bit of everything in Trebuchet, but a good defense will win you games.

Use the river to your advantage

When you fling yourself to the opponent’s side of the river to cause trouble, you can bite off more than you can chew. Against a defensive team, your attempts at disruption might not be impactful. If that happens, the best strategy is to jump into the river, as after the short respawn, you’ll be back with your team.

There’s plenty of room for strategies if you’re playing with friends, but you should be able to put these to effect, even if you’re solo. Trebuchet is all about being adaptive to your team’s needs. If your buddies are struggling to load the Trebuchet, go and help them. Are there lots of bombs coming? Assist in throwing them into the river. Did an opponent just invade? Make them regret it.

There’s so much to think about and so many ways you can become a valuable asset to your squad. Now, get out there and catapult yourself to victory. If you’re on the fence about Party Animals and are curious about its Local Co-Op capability, check out our guide.
