Modern Warfare Season One Refresh December 18 Call of Duty

Modern Warfare Season One was the biggest free content drop in Call of Duty history. Now, it’s getting even bigger. Infinity Ward announced today that Season One will now end on February 11 instead of the originally planned date of February 3. Not only that, they are offering a Crossbow, more modes, more cosmetics, and double XP as an apology.

Extensions mean more content

It is slightly disappointing that Season One is being extended, as that means Season Two will see a delay. But Infinity Ward is trying to mend that wound with more Season One content. Due to the extension, Infinity Ward stated that they would be adding additional content for Modern Warfare.

According to Infinity Ward, “Over the next few weeks, a host of new items and challenges will arrive, including an in-game Challenge to earn the new Crossbow weapon, more remixed game modes, new playlists, and more in the Store to discover.” This is the main reason they provide for the extension: to help “make room for all that activity.” As for the double XP, there’s a lot of it coming: “2XP, 2X Weapon XP, and 2X Tier Progression” will all be available.

The Crossbow is a pretty familiar weapon to Call of Duty fans. It has seen many different iterations across the series, even being a specialist weapon in Black Ops 4. YouTubers and trick-shot-ers will be full of delight once this weapon hits Modern Warfare.

More Double XP

Double XP of every sort will be happening in Modern Warfare at the close of Season One. This should make for an opportune time to max out your battle pass and weapons. The statement doesn’t provide exact dates for the double XP, but it does seem to imply that it will last for all, or at least most, of the extension.

As of now, there are no official dates for Season Two.
