Ioi Barcelona

IO Interactive has another video game in the works at its brand new studio in Barcelona. The company revealed today that IOI Barcelona will join two other studios in working on the Hitman series, as well as the upcoming Project 007 and an unannounced title. IO teased that there’s plenty in store for the company — Barcelona is just the beginning.

The press release announced that IOI Barcelona will join IOI Copenhagen and IOI Malmö in making “a significant impact to ongoing development and publishing efforts across all projects.”

“There are exciting times ahead at IO Interactive and I am proud to announce the next step in our plans for the most desirable game company in Europe,” IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak said. “IOI Barcelona will become the third studio to join our efforts to create phenomenal experiences for our players and communities.”

IO has already recruited a “core team” for the studio in Spain. However, interested gaming professionals can still apply for several positions related to an “unannounced new IP.” According to IO’s career page, the studio seeks a Senior Gameplay Programmer, a Senior UX Designer, a UI Programmer, and more.

Naturally, IO didn’t reveal too much about the unannounced IP. However, a Senior Multiplayer Network Programmer job opening hints that it will be a multiplayer title, so that’s something.

The future is big at IO Interactive

IOI Barcelona was just the first step in a busy roadmap for the developer. “With more to come from the Hitman universe, developing and publishing the first James Bond origin story and a brand new IP in active development, the future for the studio is as exciting as it has ever been,” the press release teased.

IO has kept itself busy with constant Hitman 3 updates. The game is currently celebrating its first DLC release, Seven Deadly Sins. Each month is filled with new events, as well as new content and free goodies for all players.

Meanwhile, IO continues to develop Project 007, the tentative title for a new James Bond adventure. We don’t know too much about that release yet. However, gamers can all agree that IO’s history of stealth titles makes it an excellent choice to take on Bond. We can’t wait to see what IOI Barcelona comes up with next.
