Modern Warfare Zombies offers some of the most dynamic content in the Modern Warfare 3 package, but players are reporting it doesn’t seem to work quite as intended. Here is our guide exploring whether Battle Pass progress is bugged in Modern Warfare Zombies.

Modern Warfare Zombies – is Battle Pass progress bugged?

When you play Modern Warfare Zombies, the expectation is that the experience you gain will contribute to your Battle Pass progress. That’s how games in the series have worked up to this point, and that setup remains in place. However, players have encountered issues that strongly suggest a bug is currently at play. Modern Warfare Zombies awards Battle Pass progress, but only sporadically or in lower volumes than anticipated.

At present, it’s not entirely clear whether the slow Battle Pass progress that players are experiencing is definitely a bug, or if the developers have decided to significantly rebalance the experience compared to DMZ. Based on what I’m seeing, a bug seems like the likely bet.

Previously, participation in a long match of DMZ might go a long way toward the player gaining a Battle Pass level. In Modern Warfare Zombies, players have reported on Reddit that they saw an increase of perhaps 20% of one level, even after more than a half-hour of play. That’s definitely not in line with expectations.

The report of stingy rewards follows previous posts from some players who noticed they didn’t see any rewards at all. “I’ve played hours of MWZ now,” reported SnooCupcakes8857, “and it doesn’t give me any progress.”

Other players added to the chorus, indicating they saw Battle Pass progress once every four or five matches. Otherwise, progress doesn’t seem to occur at all.

It’s likely this is all a bug. Perhaps issues are related to the game’s recent release and the fact Activision is still catering to players who were enjoying previous versions. The first proper season of Modern Warfare Zombies is set to begin in December. Until then, the effort to tend to a fractured player base may have some unintended impact on Battle Pass progress. That or it’s a skill issue.
